Bash results show unrelated file diffs

“A's Bash result then shows Updated <file> (+N -M) with B's diff under it, as if A's command had made the edit.”

3 bugs in this theme

  1. Bash diff shows others' editsNo workaround yet14 people
  2. Bash-triggered file changes shown as edit diffs in chatNo workaround yet5 people
  3. Tool outputs leak across sessionsNo workaround yet2 people

What's included

  • Another Claude Code session in the same repo edits a file and the edit appears as "Updated <file> (+N -M)" under this session's Bash call
  • A background daemon or other process writes files while a Bash command runs and its changes are credited to the command
  • Branch switches or rebases via git in a Bash call list every changed tracked file with full diffs, including "Deleted" entries
  • The diff appears in the terminal and transcript but not in the tool result the model receives, so the agent denies making the edit

Not included

  • Diffs for edits the session itself made through Edit/Write tools
  • The model being unable to see diffs of its own edits
